PTO Shaft U-Joint Replacement
There are several things you should know before you begin a PTO shaft u joint replacement. A flat head screwdriver can be used as a scraper. A wire brush can help clean around the moving parts, and you should also use WD-40 on the area around the bearing caps. Once you've cleaned the area and cleaned out the loose bearing caps, you can begin the replacement process. After you've replaced the PTO u-joint, reinstall the retaining ring.
After you remove the old PTO u-joint, you should make sure to replace it with a new one. You'll want to remove the u-joint bearing caps first, so you can be sure they're in the proper spot for installation.
