A low-backlash servo planetary gearbox is an essential component of a servo system. While this type of gearbox is used to drive rotating loads, it is also an excellent choice for applications where continuous S1 operation is required. The precision planetary gearbox has low inertia, which benefits servo applications. The gearbox itself has inertia that is directly proportional to its load inertia. Planetary gearboxes are lubricated with oil or grease and require no re-lubrication or maintenance.
The main differences between a planetary gearbox and a conventional pinion-and-gear reducer are the size and shape of the ring gears. A planetary gearbox is more compact than a conventional pinion-and-gear reducer. In addition to its compact design, a planetary gearbox is ideal for a wide range of applications that have space or weight restrictions.
The advantages of a servo planetary gearbox over a traditional pinion-and-gearbox geared motor include a low moment of inertia and a compact footprint. A servo planetary gearbox can be made with a wide range of ratios and sizes to suit a particular application.

Features of Precision Servo Motor Planetary Gearbox
With a compromise of advanced technology both at home and abroad, the main features of high-precision planetary gearboxes are as follows:
- Low Noise: Under 65db.
- Low Backlash: Backlash is under 3 arcmin. Backlash for 2-stage speed reduction is within 5 arcmin.
- High Efficiency: Efficiency for 1-stage model exceeds 95%, and for 2-stage model exceeds 92%.
- High Input Speed: Input speed allows for up to 8000 RPM.
- High Torque: Higher torque output than that of conventional planetary gear reducers.
- High Stability: Employs high tensile strength alloy steel. Gear hardening is made for the entire gear instead of only surface hardening, which extends gear service life and maintains high accuracy as new after a long period of operation.
- High-Speed Reduction Ratio: The gear reducer is a modular design. The precision planetary gearbox can be connected. Speed reduction ratio is over 1/1000.

Precision Planetary Gearbox Installation Instructions
Motor installation instruction
1. Double-check the motor and gearbox size. Clean the mounting surface.
2. Remove the plug on the adapter plate. Rotate the set collar till the bolt is line up.
3. a: Remove the motor key. b: Insert balance key.
4. Check motor shaft size and insert bushing if necessary.
5. Set as vertical position. Tighten the mounting bolts (including washer) in 1-4 order with a wrench to 5% specified torque.
6. Tighten the set collar bolt with a torque wrench to the specified torque.
7. Tighten the mounting bolts in 1-4 order with a wrench to the specified torque.
8. Tighten back the screw plug.
Precision Planetary Gearbox installation instruction
Jointing with reducer in case of jointing a reducer with the device, make sure that the combining side is plane without inconsistency, and when assembling reducer onto equipment, ensuring assembly surface smooth.
Connection to the output shaft
When assembling a coupling, pulley, etc. onto the output shaft, make sure that excessive axial load not be given to the output shaft.
In case of strongly hitting the shaft with a hammer, the shaft, make sure that excessive axial may be damaged, therefore it shall be prohibited.
If the shaft or key of a coupling assembled is loosed, it may cause carbonization, so be careful when assembling.
For assembling a coupling, fix the key with a set bolt.
Please adjust the shaft center carefully in connecting.

Storage of Precision Planetary Gearbox
- Under roof, protected against rain and snow, avoid shock loads.
- Underlay the block and other material between the ground and equipment.
- The opened but not used gear units should be added with the anti-corrosive oil on its surface, and then return to the packing containers timely.
- Two years or more given regular inspections. Check for cleanliness and mechanical damage as part of the inspection and check corrosion protection.
Routine Inspection for Precision Planetary Gearbox
Check whether there is any leakage of grease.
During operation, check whether the surface temperature of the reducer is abnormally high. (Environmental temperature is less than +50 degrees Celsius.)
Check whether there is any abnormal vibration of the reducer.
Check whether there is any abnormal sound in the bearing and gear parts.
