Accurate installation of gear motors or gearboxes is crucial for their reliable and optimal operation. Installation Principles

Below is a brief introduction to the fundamental principles of installation:

a) Fastening

Start by placing the gearbox on a surface that offers sufficient rigidity. The mating surfaces need to be flat and carefully machined. These surfaces must be kept within specific geometric tolerances, particularly for flange-mounted gearboxes with splined hollow shafts. For applications that require high radial loads at the output end, flange mounting is recommended for some gearbox sizes. This mounting utilizes the double pilot diameters provided in these gearboxes.

Remember to verify if the gearbox is suitable for the intended mounting position. Use screws of resistance class 8.8 or higher to secure the gearbox. Torque up screws according to the figures indicated in the relevant tables. For transmitted output torque that is greater than or equal to 70% of the indicated M2max torque, and with frequent motion reversals, use screws with a minimal resistance of 10.9.

Some gearbox sizes can be secured using both screws or pins. If a pin is seated within the frame, the gearboxes should be at least 1.5 times the pin diameter.

b) Connections

Ensure the connection elements to the gearbox input and output are secure. Refrain from tapping them with hammers or similar tools. Use the support screws and threaded holes provided on the shafts to insert these parts. Make sure to clean off any grease or protects from the shafts before fitting any connection parts.

When fitting hydraulic motors, be careful of the O-ring between the motor flange and gearbox input flange during assembly. Install the hydraulic motor before filling the gearbox with lube oil. The hydraulic circuit should be such that the brake is released instants before the gearbox begins and applied right after the gearbox has stopped. Ensure the pressure in the hydraulic line for brake release is at zero when the gearbox is stopped.

Motors are connected to the appropriate electrical or hydraulic circuit based on their direction of rotation. Remember that all gearboxes, whether of the in-line or right-angle type, have the same direction of rotation at both input and output.
