A Comprehensive Guide on Ordering your WLY SMR Gearbox

When it comes to reliable and efficient gearboxes, the WLY SMR gearbox stands out for its exceptional performance. This guide will walk you through the process of ordering this top-notch product, interpreting the gearbox coding, and understanding its distinctive features.

Understanding the Gearbox Coding

The WLY SMR gearbox’s coding system is straightforward and easy to understand. It is made up of eight characters, each with a specific meaning.

  • The first three letters are the product’s initial: SMR.
  • The fourth character refers to the unit size and can be any of these: BCD, EFG, HJ.
  • The fifth and sixth digits represent the ratio code, which can be any of these: 05, 13, 20.
  • The seventh digit signifies the type of assembly: O for a shaft-mounted pace reducer and 2 for a flange mount.
  • The eighth digit indicates the output hub bore required: 1 for standard metric bore and 2 for alternative metric bore.

For instance, if you need a dimension e unit with a 20:1 nominal gear ratio, shaft mounted with a standard metric hub bore (55mm), the code will be SMR-E2001.

Optional Extras

A backstop can be integrated into the gearbox for applications where it’s necessary to prevent the reversal of rotation. It can easily be installed in the reducer by simply removing a cover plate. However, for a ratio of 5:1 gearbox, the use of a backstop is not recommended.

Flange Mounting

The WLY SMR gearbox’s design allows it to be bolted directly to the supporting structure. This flange mounting can enable designers to omit a bearing or pillow block. However, it also removes the belt adjustment attribute characteristic of the shaft mount.

Note: Standard WLY SMR gearboxes do not come with drill mount screws. If you need this type of mount, please specify it in your order.
